Thai is a tonal language belonging to the Tai-Kadai language family. It uses a unique script known as the Thai alphabet, which consists of 44 consonants, 15 vowel symbols, and various tone markers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s important to remember that, for each phrase, you will also need to add a gender marker at the end. For females, you should finish with <\/span><b>Ka<\/b><b><i> (khaa)<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and if you are male, you should finish with the word<\/span><b> Krup<\/b><b><i> (khrap).<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Apart from Thai, several regional dialects are spoken by different ethnic groups in Thailand. Some of these dialects include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Isan: Spoken in the northeastern region of Thailand (Isan or Isaan). It has similarities to the <strong>Lao language<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Southern Thai: Spoken in Southern Thailand, this dialect has influences from the <strong>Malay language<\/strong> due to the cultural and historical connections with neighbouring Malaysia.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Northern Thai: Spoken in Northern Thailand, Northern Thai has similarities to the <strong>Lanna language<\/strong>.
