The *Kumara Parvatha Trek*, one of the most challenging and rewarding treks in Karnataka, is known for its scenic beauty, dense forests, and panoramic views of the Western Ghats. Standing at an altitude of 1,712 meters (5,620 feet), it is the second-highest peak in Coorg and a favorite among seasoned trekkers.
The trek offers two main trails:
1. *Kukke Subramanya Trail: The more popular and longer route begins from Kukke Subramanya, spanning around 22 kilometers (round trip). This trail is divided into two parts—first, a gradual ascent through thick forests leading to a resting point at **Bhatrumane, followed by a steep and more open climb through grasslands and rocky terrain. Trekkers will pass landmarks like **Shesha Parvatha* before reaching the Kumara Parvatha summit. This route is physically demanding but rewards trekkers with stunning views and diverse landscapes.
2. *Beedehalli (Somwarpet) Trail*: This shorter trail, around 14 kilometers (round trip), starts from the Beedehalli side and is generally easier than the Kukke route. It passes through a less dense forest and involves less steep climbing. Although not as popular, it offers its own charm, especially for those seeking a quieter trekking experience.
Both trails converge at the Kumara Parvatha peak, offering breathtaking views of the Western Ghats and surrounding hills. The trek requires good physical fitness and preparation due to its length and terrain, but it provides an unforgettable experience for nature and adventure lovers alike.
