Good things are worth waiting for...
The Chinaga Betta day trek is perfect for those who are looking for a quick break or just want a chance to reset their mind, without having to invest too much time. As a matter of fact, you can start from Bangalore at 5 in the AM and be back by 5 in the PM!
When you choose to trek with Plan The Unplanned, you can leave the planning to us – a trek leader who knows the trail like the back of their hand, co-trekkers, both experienced and amateurs, will be there with you. That opportunity to take that much-needed break is all that you need to focus on! We’ve got the rest covered back here.
Our day starts very early since we leave Bangalore at 5.00am and the city is still asleep with the subtle light of streetlights. When the vehicle clears the city sprawl, the scene changes: skyscrapers dissolve to fields, hilly terrain, and serpents of country roads. On the way, we stop by and have a full breakfast to power up our bodies as we are to be on the adventure.
At 8:00am, we reach the starting point of Channarayana Durga trek. The air is fresh, the skies are clear and expectations are up. Backpacks fastened and spirits were flying as we start our climb. Its beauty is slowly unraveled as one starts to walk the trails, rocky paths, and ruins, and wildflowers that appeared as a surge of colour, paving their way through the morning air.
At 10:00am we arrive at the summit. This is where time is slowed down. It is spectacular scenery - a great panorama of rolling hills, lakes, and villages beyond the horizon line sitting below us. It is the time to take a deep breath, and restore your energy.
At last we retrace our steps down the trail. We also take a leisurely self-paid lunch along the way, possibly at a local restaurant or a beautiful point of interest on the way. With happy hearts and weary legs, we return to Bangalore by about 5:00pm.
It began with a day trip and turned to a memorable escape, a combination of history, nature and adventure, just perfect.

To ensure everyone has a great time and knows what to expect, please read these important points:
For everyone’s safety and enjoyment, please don’t consume alcohol, intoxicants, or smoke at any point during the journey or trek.
Kindly complete your dinner before you board the bus.
We’ll arrange transportation based on our group size. If there are 12 or fewer of us, we’ll use a tempo traveler. For groups of 13 or more, it’ll be a mini-bus. Both options are non-AC and have push-back seats for your comfort. We appreciate your understanding regarding our travel logistics.
If you prefer to arrange your own transportation to the destination (the homestay), be sure to book the “Without Travel” option when you sign up. Please note: If you select this, you’ll need a private car for your entire trip. Public transport won’t work, as our Day 2 activities begin directly from the homestay and require continuous private car access to ensure you can fully participate in all planned activities.
Our trips are about getting out into nature, often in remote locations. Please don’t expect luxury accommodations; we focus on providing comfortable basic facilities.
We’ll provide basic, vegetarian meals. We do not serve non-vegetarian food.
Please help us keep our beautiful outdoors clean by disposing of all litter properly.
You are responsible for your personal belongings, valuables, and jewelry. Plan The Unplanned is not liable for any lost items.
While we strive to be on schedule, please be aware that traffic delays or vehicle breakdowns can sometimes occur, leading to slight delays in reaching our destination.
